What are you doing here

What are you doing here?

What are you doing here?

This is the question we pondered last Sunday as we looked at Elijah in the cave at Mt Horeb from 1 Kings 19:9:

There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

I wonder if the Lord has ever asked you, what are you doing here? How did you get to where you are? The implication is that perhaps we are not where we should be.

It’s a big question, because I don’t think it just applies to our current circumstances alone. The bigger question is our whole life. What are we doing here? What are our lives about?
What do we invest in and spend our time doing?

Is it building our own security, building our own material possessions or is it building Gods kingdom and loving others. Investing in those God has placed into our lives, our family, friends and church.

This is challenging and I hope thought provoking for us as we seek to honour Jesus in all we do.
I pray you are having a great week!
