Fruit of the Flesh

Fruit of the Flesh

Galatians 5:22-23

By Dale Lennon - Helensvale Campus Pastor
This Sunday gone we talked about the Fruit of The Spirit!
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control against such things there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

We talked about the basis of the fruit, where it comes from and why it is so important to see it in the lives of others and just as importantly in our own lives.
I also shared a hypothetical counter list to the fruit that could be called the fruit of the flesh! A number of people have asked for a copy of this list this week, so I am providing it here:

JOY = COMPLAINING
LOVE = INDIFFERENCE
PATIENCE = FORCEFULNESS
GOODNESS = SELFISHNESS
KINDNESS = COLDNESS
SELF CONTROL = IMPULSIVENESS
GENTLENESS = HARSHNESS
FAITHFULNESS = UNCOMMITTED

I am not saying these things are the opposites of the fruit list but are examples of the types of ways our flesh, rather than The Spirit, can bear fruit in our lives and likely has at times born fruit in our lives.

My prayer for us this week is that we would be filled afresh with the Holy Spirit and bear fruit, for that was what we were created to do.
